For renters residing in the City of Tucson, there is help when inattentive landlords and poorly maintained properties raise health and safety issues. The City's Department of Neighborhood Resources is responsible for investigating possible code violations that effect the health and safety of residents of the City. Examples of code compliance issues that might come up for renters include lack of/inoperable utilities, including heating or cooling and electrical; inoperable plumbing; pests (e.g. bees, cockroaches, rodents); unsafe interior and living conditions; accumulating trash and debris; and vacant, neglected or boarded structures.
